An ongoing series of digital collages called And then one thing led to another… (2014–), which samples and remixes fragments of nineteenth-century printed illustrations taken from the online archive One Million Images from Scanned Books, released by the British Library into public domain through Flickr Commons. The images have no known copyright restrictions, and have been made freely available for use and and re-purposing. By dissolving the structural aesthetics of the original source materials, Sitar creates visually unified compositions that give the illusion of authenticity, in spite of each element of the collage being taken from a different image and most likely a different book from the archive.
